If you apply a sterilized rag or bandage, it also helps either against an infected wound or it prevents infection from the wound in general. Sadly FA does not provide any benefit towards healing, but rather solely helps bandages lasting longer. Its a very minor thing, which, with a classic game, you will barely notice.

It will also go away by itself but you need to be far enough away from the bodies. You needa be about 10 game tiles away, which is roughly half a zoomed screen away. Infections are classified as “non-lethal wound infections,” while bites cause zombie infections. Unfortunately, no known functions provide the probability of surviving a bite. So if you become a zombie that has nothing to do with this bacterail infection. "Infected" status in the health window is bacterial not zombie. It can be treated. Zombie infection never shows up as a status but you'll soon see the queasy and anxious moodles popping up if you do have it.

Well, a laceration is a deep cut or tear in skin or flesh. So really all you can do is bandage it up until it stops bleeding and make sure you clean it.
