At first I thought it was a remote adjustment for the coupling block 1-4 adjustments, but it totally removes the stop blocks in the rear and basically uncouples. There isn't an oil out there, mineral or synthetic, that I know can't be mixed. You can also mix a synthetic with a mineral oil.
